Gas leak
Smell like gas when not running
Hi all,
I have a Whirlpool Duet front-loading gas dryer that’s been working fine overall, but recently I noticed a strong gas smell when not runningn. I checked the gas line at the back with a gas detector meter and confirmed there’s no leak there.
I went ahead and removed the front panel, and when I placed the meter near the igniter tube area, it started beeping - so it looks like the leak is coming from somewhere in that section.
Has anyone run into this before? Is this likely a faulty gas valve or solenoid? Could it be a loose connection or cracked line inside the burner assembly? I’m comfortable replacing parts myself, just want to make sure I’m ordering the right ones and not overlooking something obvious.
Appreciate any advice on diagnosing this further and what parts I might need to replace.
Thanks!
