Gas dryer running but no heat

The first thing you may want to do is make sure the blower wheel (#4 on the diagram) is not sliding along the motor shaft. If it does, replace it.

If there is nothing wrong, the new high limit thermostat may solve the problem.

If you need the correct part numbers, post the serial number of the dryer.

Gene.

I rechecked the continuity on all of the parts and noticed that the Thermistor gave me resistance of 8ohm (if I am reading it correctly). Should this part be 0 like the rest?
My model number is MDG5500aWW with a serial number of 56756985AX. If the Thermistor is ok I will order a new high limit thermostat.

The high limit thermostat AP6007529

The normal thermistor resistance should be about 10K Ohms at 70 degrees.

I ordered the part and will let you know how it goes.
This all started when I replaced a squeaky Bearing Idler Assembly . Can you think of anything that might have caused this problem. Could I have re-installed something wrong when putting it back together? Can the electric motor direction be reversed? I am grasping at anything at this point and am willing to look at any possibility. If I were to star this all over from the beginning, what would you have me check/replace?
I see the flame come on and stay lit for about 2 minutes. It goes off for about 2 minutes and then it lights back up for about 30 seconds.

Update:
I changed the High limit thermostat, it had no effect.
My symptoms are that the dryer can run (on timed drying) for an hour and the clothes are not dry. If sensor dry is selected, the timer counts down quickly (starts at 60 and is at 20 in about 10 min)but when the buzzer sounds the clothes are not even close to being dry. Any ideas on what I should look at?

Does anyone have any ideas of what I should try next? I’m not sure where to go from here.

It should stay ON for about a minute. Such short time points to insufficient venting.

The control board can be bad as well.
The first thing I would check for continuity is the thermal fuse (#7 on the bulkhead parts break down diagram).

If the thermal fuse is blown, it has to be replaced together with the cycling thermostat (#9 on the bulkhead parts break down diagram).

Sounds like the problem is a bad gas valve itself.

Unlikely, but there is a small chance that the flame sensor contacts open prematurely.

Gene.
P.S. Be aware that any unneeded parts purchased from Appliance Parts Pros can be return within 45 days.

Hi Gene,
The gas valve came in today from App and I installed it. I tested a few times it’s works fine. put everything back together and test a first load and went back same problems. Please advise , Thanks mqcheng64

Hi Gene,
The gas valve came in today from App and I installed it right away. It’s works first few tested. After I put it’s together then test a first load and went back same problem. The ignitor glow for 20 seconds then goes out I could smell gas but no flame. Thanks

Hi gene,
I checked with multimeter and there is contuinity in flame sensor. Perhaps Temperature control element broke.please advise,Thanks.

The possible problem with the flame sensor I mentioned in the previous post can not be proved by continuity test. I would just order it and give it a try.
