I have a Whirlpool Duet Gas Dryer that has actually never dried the clothes properly. My dryer vent is not clogged and gets good airflow to a short run exhaust duct and the temperature is hot, but not hot enough?
I am guessing it is one of the temperature sensors or possible humidity sensors (if it does sense humidity?)
Have you tried disconnecting the vent from the dryer and running a cycle with a window open? Does it dry OK if you do a manual timed dry? If the clothes are not drying, but there is heat getting to the drum, the most likely cause is restricted airflow. Dryers use airflow to dry close, not high temperatures so you must be sure the vent is clear and adequate for your model. Long runs, many bends, bird living in the end will all cause poor drying.

If you are sure that the vent is clear it could be 1 of 2 things. It could be the high limit thermostat not sensing the temperature correctly, Or the begining problem of the coils going out on the gas valve. Replacing both of them would be a very cheap repair. It would probably not cost you more then $50.00 Tom
