Function of refrigerator thermostat.

This refrigerator has 2 thermostats and I’m trying to figure out what the refrigerator thermostat controls. The schematic only shows one thermostat and from what I can tell it is the one for the freezer section.

I’ve been having issues with the refrigerator section not cooling enough when the meat / cheese selector is set to cheese. This control seems to block the return air from passing from the refrigerator section into the freezer. I’ve also noticed that there is very little air flow into the refrigerator section even though the freezer has good air flow.

I’ve checked the air baffle from the freezer into the refrigerator section and it is not blocked. I’ve also replaced the adaptive defrost control and have checked the heating element and the defrost thermostat, both ohm out as ok.

Is this thermostat suppose to control a second fan? I don’t see one on the schematic, but then again I don’t see the second thermostat either.

Thanks in advance…

Item 3 in Section 2 is the main thermostat it controls the compressor and both fans.

Item 8 in Section 2 is the damper thermostat. It is mechanical only and opens/closes the damper door Item 11.

Here is the operators manual for tthis unit.

Thing is I’ve had this unit open and the “damper thermostat” is electrical not mechanical. I’m pretty sure of this because both thermostats are wired into the harness and have temperature tubes coming from them. The main thermostat’s temperature tube goes into the freezer section and the 'damper thermostat’s temperature tube is coiled up behind that thermostat.

This is a Rev 11 model. I wonder if there was a change in design during production.

Always a possibility of a change with the revision.

Problem is that the AppliancePartsPros breakdowns show rev 10 and rev 14 but neither have an electrical second thermostat.
I’m stumped as to what is going on with this unit.
Only thing I can think of was that it was mis-labelled at the factory.
