Front loader shakes violent on hi spin

Spins fine with no load. No loose springs, spider pulley fine, motor pulley fine. Basket spins freely by hand w/o noise. With no load it spins at both 400rpm and 1000rpm in t11 test mode. when I put clothes in the machine, it will spin at 400rpm while shaking moderately, but when you increase to 1000rpm it begins to shake pretty violent and will not go past 800rpm before shut down. When you shake any of the dampers the whole tub moves a lot, but the springs look to be in place. I was trying to remove the front panel to check the counterweights, but I can’t seem to be able to remove the control panel cover.

Unfortunately I cannot link you to a service manual because GE won’t let me. I suggest to do an Internet search to see if you can buy a manual at a low cost, which you probably can.

You may have damage that cannot be seen with the naked eye, so try replacing springs and support structure and see if that fixes things.

Thank you for the reply. Is there a way to rule OUT a tub or bearing problem? Those repair cost are more than the value of the machine.

Unfortunately no. You can take the back panel off and observe the machine while running and maybe make a determination that way. Unfortunately you are experiencing the problem of diagnosing these very over-engineered models.

Good luck.
