Front burner bright red even on low setting

i was cooking last night on low/med temp and looked down to see my burner bright red. it has never been this red hot color before. i never cook higher than medium heat to med/high but it was if i was cooking on the highest heat possible. it is my right front large burner thst i use the most. am i looking at replacing the burner or is is most likely a therostat? please tell me this is something simple to fix. can i take the big burner from the back left and swap it with the front as a temp fix?

thanks for the help.. i can’t imagine having to buy a new stove, not anytime soon at least!

Yer burner ain’t the problem. It is the control switch that is the problem. Take a look at this quicktime movie: Elec stove switch operation
