Frigidaire Washer turns on by itself

I have a Frigidaire Model GLTF2940FS2 washer. For the last couple months it has started turning on by itself. All the lights come on as if I was trying to start a load and the “Cycle Signal” light flashes along with a beep about every 30 seconds. The washer works fine otherwise. I just unplug it when not in use. Any idea what’s wrong and how much it will cost to fix it?

Try changing out the control unit, this part here

AP4358809

about $145 with shipping if you buy from this site. If that is not the problem and you buy from APP you can return it.

I’ll give that a try. Thnx. Now search this site to find how to change it. LOL

Take off the top and there you go

Thanx a million. The part will be here in a few days. I’ll let you know how it works out

I got the part from here at appliancepro and my washer is like new. Thanx for your help.

Great, glad it worked out and thanks for updating us.

My frigidaire GLTF2940ES2 washer started making a sulphur/burning type of smell after the cycle started…then would fade away.. The cycle would run as normal. This has been going on for probably over a month.

This morning, I wake up and hear the unit beeping. I look and it’s on and has an ERR message beeping on and off and looks like ‘someone’ is punching the bottoms. I try to turn it off but that doesn’t work. So I run a normal wash cycle. Throughout the cycle, the ERR message would come on and beep. Cycle ended, washer shut off. …but then turned itself back on with the ERR message again.

I unplugged the washer and took off the back panel. Can’t see much.. the back belt looked ok.

help? Wonder if it is the control unit?
