Frigidaire refrigerator freezer ice everywhere

Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FPBS2777RFK
Main Symptom: Freezer drawer is freezing shut
What happens & when: When I have the the ice maker on in the bottom drawer, either the water is overflowing or splashing out because it then freezes on the track making it hard to open and the bottom of the freezer becomes a huge sheet of ice. When the water kicks on to fill the ice maker, it runs for about 6 seconds. I’m not sure if it is the Water Inlet Valve (242253002) or the Board Assembly/Control Board (5304510306) that needs to be replaced to fix this.

Typically when this type of issue occurs, the problem has to do with the door not closing completely. Check to make sure that it is closing properly. If the water is coming from the icemaker then it sounds like the valve could be the issue if the water pressure is good.

Confirming that the door is closing properly. Attached is a picture of the icemaker. You can see that water is overflowing then freezing down the back and bottom of the refrigerator. Are you fairly confident this is the valve and not an issue with the board?

Yes, this type of issue would most likely be caused by the water valve. Change it out and remove the icemaker to clear out all ice that is built up in the fill cup and icemaker then put it back in and let it run. This should clear up the issue.

Great, thanks for confirming! I’ll change that out and post back if that fixes the issue. Appreciate the help.

Replacing the part was easy and smooth. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to have done the trick. The ice maker still makes ice, but it also still creates an ice buildup across the back and bottom of the freezer.
