Did both elements stop heating at the same time or did one fail then the other after a while?
yes, they both quit working at the same time. thanks for your help !
also i did take the element off to inspect and didn’t see any breaks or burn marks.
If you have access to a multimeter, the infinite switches at the console can be tested to see if they are the cause of failure. Both can be tested from the L1 (P1) terminal to the L2 (P2) terminal to verify there is 240 Volts AC present. If there is, the 6” can be tested from H1 to H2 for 240 Volts AC when the switch is on. The 9” dual element would be tested from terminal 2 to terminal 4 for 240 Volts AC when set to heat. Is there any test point that does not show 240 Volts AC?
i was thinking to swap the for right switch with the far left switch to see if the problem follows the switch or not. does that sound logical to do or should i just check with the multimeter ? thanks again.
Swapping similar infinite switches is a valid way of testing as long as they are the same rating. If the problem follows the switch, replace the switch. If the problem does not follow the switch, I would verify incoming voltage to make sure there is not a wire issue. If voltage is good, the element is the cause of failure.
ok great, thanks again - will do that now.
problem solved - i hope. i found a wire that came off the connector or spade. not sure what its called but i hope that fixing that will solve the problem. thanks again !
yep, that was it . thanks again.
Thank you for letting us know, and I am glad it was an easy fix.
