Frigidaire Oven Not Heating Up

I’m really out of my element here, so any advice would be appreciated.

My Frigidaire oven has stopped heating up. The problem presented itself to my wife a few weeks ago, but after taking the broiler drawer out and poking around a bit the problem seemed to correct itself (?!?!). It would heat, hold temperature and bake. Tonight, the problem presented itself again. By looking at a few online manuals and parts list I can share that the “ignitor” is “lighting” up/getting hot. But the oven burner does not ignite. There’s a distinct odor of gas.

I’m on a tight budget and hopeful this is something I can repair myself.

Thoughts?

have you tried testing the gas valve? Thats what was wrong with mine, initially. You will need an Ohmmeter

I’ve not tested the gas valve. I will get my hands on an Ohmmeter and will do so. Any advice on what I’m looking for?

In the meantime, I turned on the stove again this morning and it is (again) operating normally (?!?!) I cannot see a rhyme or reason why this is happening (as there’s no coinciding use of gas around the house - showers, dish washer, laundry, etc.). I don’t know if that makes sense, but I thought maybe it has something to do with the amount of gas getting to the oven. As I type it though, it seems foolish.

The heating element does ignite, so I assume (!) that it has something to do with the gas regulation. Maybe there’s a blockage or something is faulty?

Again, when it is NOT working I do smell gas and the element is very hot (but there are no flames on the burner).
