Glad I found this forum–lots of good information, thanks.

From what I read, my ignitor has gone bad in my gas oven. Symptoms are that it glows, but the gas doesn’t flow / light. There was also a gas smell when the part failed, and the oven temperature has been temperamental for the past few months.

Plan is to replace the ignitor. First I have a few questions:
1) Living in Canada, these parts are 3x as expensive as in the US! Does anyone know of an online retailer with good prices, a good reputation, and that ships to Canada?
2) There seem to be several different manufactures of the flat style ignitors that I’m looking at—can anyone comment on possible quality issues? The prices vary, and I’m skeptical.
3) Assuming that I’m going to use the porcelain nuts to re-connect the wires, should this be done on the “valve side” rather than above the bottom stove pan? (not sure if this makes sense)
4) Can you confirm that there is no polarity issue with ignitors (i.e. it doesn’t matter which wire I connect to the originals)

Thanks in advance–look forward to your reply.
Couldn’t wait any longer for a reply–ordered a replacement part on ********.
Fingers are crossed.
