Our side by side Frigidaire with ice/water in the door will only dispense crushed ice, not whole cubes. we have tried switching back and forth repeatedly but it remains stuck. Is there an easy fix or will this require a pro to attend and repair? I am very handy at fixing things but have little if any experience with appliances. If there are step by step instructions available I would appreciate any help available. Everything else still works beautifully.
Thanks
I have read other threads similar to this one but they are models with ice NOT
in the door I think. I need to get into the door of the freezer to deal with my issue and certainly don’t want to break anything in the process. Ideas please or instructions? again thanks in advance

I am having the same problem with my frigidaire..I have completely emptied out the ice tray and removed all of the chunks and re-installed it…same result. I have not run across any fix for this yet either.
Alan,
Check the solenoid behind the ice container (#45 on the diagram) for continuity. Also it can be just frozen up.

I was trying to find info on how I fixed this problem last time it happened. Then I remembered, simply hold in the cubed button and the light button for about 5 seconds at the same time. It worked for me!
I ran into this problem (no cubes, only crushed) after cleaning my ice bucket.
Turns out the metal arm sticking out of the back needed to be above the solenoid arm. I reached under the bucket when pushing it in and manually pulled the white solenoid arm down to ensure the metal arm pushed in above it.
Problem solved only took 15 seconds. HTH
Thanks for these videos and parts! The wifie is getting mad at me because I keep fixing her old appliances and she’s not getting new ones.
Ewan007- thank you! It fixed ours as well!
I had the same issue, noticed ice was frozen at where the bucket inserted and prevented the metal rod fully engaged the solenoid elevator which moves it up for ice cubes. Removed the ice blockage and voila! ice cubes are dispensing. Thanks.
Thank you Ewan007!!! That worked for me too.
The arm lifter in the back of mine was frozen in place. Hair dryer 30 seconds= done!!

Oh my gosh. I was ready to call a repairman after trying other fixes. This was the one I needed! Thank you for sharing
It worked!!! Such an easy fix, I have been just not using my ice maker!
Thanks worked great
Cut the power by either unplugging or shutting the breaker off for 1 minute turn power back on and hit cube which is under the power off light on mine
Worked for me
@Ewan007
You genius! Thank you! Worked for me, too!

Thanks fixed it up nicely!
Ewan007: turns out this was our problem as well. We tried to fix it. We now only get ice cubes. I believe we broke it when we were pushing it down with a long metal skewer and pushing the ice back in. Our model is from 2020. It’s ok. We’d rather have cubed than crushed anyway
