I have replaced the water valve & changed the filter which did not fix the issue. I removed the tray and thawed it out after replacing the water valve but it froze up again. By the next morning the water had leaked on to the floor. Not sure what else to try except replacing the ice maker.
The important clue is that the ice freezes in the mold but never harvests/dumps. Once the ice maker fails to complete its harvest cycle, it can leave the mold full and then initiate another fill, eventually creating the large block of ice and overflow you’re seeing. Since you already replaced the inlet valve 242253002, a mechanically stuck valve becomes much less likely.
Quick test before replacing it
Turn the ice maker OFF and thaw/remove all of the accumulated ice.
Turn the household water supply back on.
Watch the ice-maker fill tube for several minutes.
If water continues coming out with the ice maker OFF, there is still a valve/control issue. The valve should not allow water through when it isn’t energized.
If the water stops completely with the ice maker OFF, turn the ice maker back on. Let it make one batch and watch what happens.
If it fills once, freezes the cubes, but never ejects them, yet later receives additional water, I’d replace the ice maker assembly 243297613. The harvest motor/module and fill control are part of that assembly.
One other thing I’d check
Before installing the new ice maker, inspect the fill chute/tube where the water enters the mold. Make sure it isn’t partially frozen or directing water outside the mold. This model also has a separate fill-chute assembly, so you don’t want a misdirected fill masquerading as an ice-maker problem.
Given that you’ve already replaced the valve and filter, completely thawed the ice maker, and it froze into a block again, I would put 243297613 ice maker assembly at the top of the list. I would also shut the ice maker off or shut off the refrigerator’s water supply until it’s repaired to prevent another floor leak.
