I have a Frigidaire gas dryer, I couldn’t find the model #, that had been drying without fail for years. Not long ago I noticed I had to dry a load twice to get it completely dry. Then about 2 weeks ago I had to run the same size load 5 times to get it dried.
I pulled the dryer out and checked the rear vent and it was clear as was the vent pipe going under the house. However when I went under the house I noticed the vent had been knocked down and pinned against the wall so it wouldn’t vent. Fixed that, and tried the dryer and it seemed like it was heating the way it use to at first but still had to dry a load three times. The copper gas line got a little kinked when I pushed it back in so I replaced that today with a flexible line and it again seemed to work like it should then lost all the heat halfway through the cycle.
A little while ago I lifted the lid to look in and see what was going on and the first time I turned the unit on after it set for a few minutes, I could see the blue glow in the bottom of the cabinet. It ran for a a minute until the drum got hot and cut off. Every few minutes after that all I could see was a red glow for a few seconds then no blue flicker. I haven’t had a chance to take the unit apart and check the parts, but I assume the red glow is the igniter and the lack of a flame indicates a bad set of coils.
Any thoughts?
