If water goes in during diagnostic mode, it just means the ice maker is not reaching the temperature needed for a harvest cycle and won’t call for water until it reaches less than 7 degrees. An air leak can cause this since the ice on the ice maker evaporator will prevent air flow from getting the ice maker cold enough to harvest.
