Icemaker not working

Have an issue with the icemaker in the top left corner of the refrigerator. The icemaker only gets water in diagnostic mode. It will only empty the frozen cubes in diagnostic mode also. So far the air tower has been replaced twice and the water inlet valve has been replaced once. The filter is fine.

Also, there have been times when the filter freezes, ice builds up in the bottom of the fridge, and water will drip from the back of the icemaker. Fridge is set to 37°, freezer is set to 0°. I’m guessing there’s some kind of massive freeze going on behind the icemaker. Not sure what is causing all of this. Icemaker hasn’t worked at all since this was new. Little over one year.

I am not sure what else to look at to get this working properly.

Based on the information that has been provided, it sounds like there is an air leak where the icemaker section air handler seals against the container and wall. This can cause the ice maker section to not reach proper temperature as well as the other symptoms identified. I would check around the seams and the seal for any air leak. 140123513032 Housing, air Handler | Genuine Frigidaire OEM In Stock

Thank you for the reply and information. Would that actually stop water flow to the ice cube tray?

It can if it causes the water line to freeze up with ice where it lets out into the ice maker.

Ok, I’ll check it out. I’ve never had issues getting water in the tray via diagnostic mode.

Thanks.

If water goes in during diagnostic mode, it just means the ice maker is not reaching the temperature needed for a harvest cycle and won’t call for water until it reaches less than 7 degrees. An air leak can cause this since the ice on the ice maker evaporator will prevent air flow from getting the ice maker cold enough to harvest.

Thank you very much for this detail! Greatly appreciated.

Your post led me in the right direction. I checked the air handler last night and all four screws were pretty loose so I’m positive there wasn’t a proper seal. I was able to straighten out the gasket on the bottom; it seemed a little pushed in. Tightened up the screws and put everything back together. I ran the icemaker defrost from the diagnostic mode just to be sure there was no freeze. Woke up this morning to a bin full of ice cubes!
