Frigidaire dishwasher sticking in wash cycle

The dishwasher sticks in normal wash. If I turn it past this spot it will finish. I’ve noticed on other questions of this nature the heating element and water temperature come into question. It does heat up, although I have not noticed if it is doing so at this point in the cycle. What all might cause this problem?

Hi,

There is a pause in the timer cycle as the water heats up. The timer will not advance past this pause until the thermostat gets hot enough from the water in the tub and closes. Then the timer starts to advance again.

If the heater checks ok with a ohm meter or you know it heats for sure I would look at replacing the thermostat. It’s located on the bottom of the tub.

If there is nothing wrong with the heater and/or the hi-limit thermostat (#29 on the tub break down diagram) then the problem is a bad timer.

I appreciate the help! I checked the water temperature in the part of the cycle where it consistantly sticks. It was luke warm. I turned it past the point and noticed later in the cycle the water was much hotter. I dug out the Service Data Sheet and timed each interval comparing to the Cycle Chart. I realized the dishwasher is sticking in the Normal wash. The heated washes do not start until the dishwasher advances into the “Light Wash”. Once the timer is turned past the sticky point, the dishwasher will finish, going through 5 heater washes and drying without a problem.
I did notice there seems to be very little water used. Most d/w’ers seem to dump alot of water into the disposal. This one doesn’t seem to have a very deep tub and the care manual says it uses 8.4 gallons for 2 washes and 5 rinses averaging for just over a gallon for each. I’m not sure if this is problem or if it is relavent to the timer sticking. I just thought I’d mention it to make sure.

You did very good job and if you’ll replace the timer know - it should solve the problem.

The difference between Frigidaire dishwashers and all others - Frigidaire dishwashers used much less water.

Thanks, Gene. I really appreciate the help. I ordered the timer from your earlier response. It really is $20 cheaper than here in town. I appreciate the savings too! I’ll let you know if I need more help.
