My daughter has a 2001 Maytag 27’ side-by-side Fridge which has slowly lost its ability stay cold over the past 4 months and is now barely over room temp. The freezer has also lost its abilty to keep things frozen. The freezer is still semi-cold but no where it should be, the freezer fan is blowing.
Also my daughter said the ice maker also stop making ice prior to the fridge/freezer losing its ability to stay cold. In addition, there is a tremndous amount of ice around what I am guesing is the water line or condencer at the back lower right hand corner of the fridge.

Unplug the unit -Thaw that ice clump and vacuum the coils, then open the freeser and remove the lower rear panel below those coils is a drip pan for the defrost cycle see if it’s full of ice. If it is, use hot water and a turkey baster or a steamer and thaw that line. After it’s thawed you should see water dripping out of the tube where the ice clump was in back.
See if the temperature doesn’t get back down to the normal range. Post what you find.
I did what you said with the coils and defrosting the ice bulb. tried to remove the lower rear panel in the freezer but it is full of ice and hard to remove the panel as there is so much ice in there. I was going to defrost it but I wanted to make sure we were on the same page. I will attach a few pictures of the rear freezer and the evap/heat exchange assembly and the evaporator fan.
I finished thawing it out this morning with a blow dryer. No more ice and I had it on the coils for awhile to ensure they were not still frozen. The hose drain line was completely cleared and thawed.
