my freezer works but is making everything smell like smoke. thought it might be icemaker, so i took it out - still smells
Regardless of inconvenience I would suggest you remove this appliance from use immediately until a professional tech can diagnose the smoke source… The possibility of a house fire may exist… It happened recently in my area (Alaska)… The fire chief traced the fire trail to the fridge (freezer area - side by side)… His words were, “It looked like fire poured out of the freezer”…
This was a Whirlpool and the homeowner said the company sent someone to pickup the fridge and take it back to the factory…
i have a top freezer from ge. it smells like smoke in there, still freezes good. took out ice maker, but still have the problem. anybody got any suggestions other than to scrap it?
Mine did the same thing, I think the defrost timer stuck. I turned it off. Smells burned, black soot on everything.
