Well my refrigerator went out last year,it was the starter relay. We replaced it and it seemed to be doing ok again, but now the freezer just wont freeze well. It only gets to about -7 or -8 c. One day a few days ago out of the blue,it ran right and was at -15c. Hasnt done it again since.I was thinking low freon,my indoor temps do vary a lot in summer and winter due to poor heating and cooling in the upstairs apartment.Could it cause trouble with the seals? But why would it just work right one day then not do it again?
Im thinking about replacing the start capacitor,it seems like it may be a run capacitor as it never is removed completely from circuit.
Didnt help it.
You need more info.
Is the compressor running continuously when it is not getting cold enough.
If it is then I would say it is a sealed system problem.
If the compressor is not coming on then it could be a thermostat problem.
Give it a tap or turn it a bit. If the compressor fires up then I would replace the thermostat.
If the compressor is buzzing and clicking then it could be your starter relay is shot again.
If you think it is a door seal problem get a 2 inch strip of paper and place it between the seal dnd units frame than pull it out. Work your way around the doors to see if it is not sealing correctly somewhere.
Sometimes the hinge side seal can grab when closing and not seal correctly. A light coating of vaseline or white lithium grease usually solves this.
Well the compressor does run continously and it doesnt seem to be due to the gaskets. Loss of freon I suppose? But why just one day it decided to get to -15 c but not before or since?

Since the compressor is running it does sound like a sealed system problem.
Could be low freon or a plugged orifice.
Remove the cover from inside the freezer so you can inspect the coils.
If they have frost only in one area (usually where the freon enters the coils) then it is low freon.
Here is a link.

Check out #20 and the example pictures part way down that page.
A sealed system/low freon problem will be an expensive repair as you will need a pro. Often it makes more sense to put the dollars towards a new unit.

I do not know.
Perhaps you will find your evaporator coils heavily iced over which would be a defrost problem. Then it could be the defrost thermostat has an intermittent fault. Less likely but possible would be the defrost timer and lastly the defrost heater.
