Hey there! On your Frigidaire GLFU1467FW0 upright freezer, the CE error code generally points to a communication problem involving the electronic controls.
Since the freezer also won’t turn off, I’d start by checking the control system before replacing any parts.
Here’s what I’d recommend checking
1. Reset the freezer. Unplug it or turn off the circuit breaker for about 5 minutes. Restore power and see whether the CE code returns.
2. Check the temperature controls. Try adjusting the temperature setting and see whether the display responds. If the buttons aren’t responding or the display remains stuck on CE, that could indicate a control problem.
3. Inspect the control connections. Unplug the freezer before opening any panels. Check for loose connectors, corrosion, damaged wiring, or moisture around the electronic control.
4. Check the actual freezer temperature. Place a thermometer inside and monitor it. If the compressor runs continuously and the freezer gets much colder than its normal setting, that could indicate a temperature-sensing or control issue.
One other thing worth checking: make sure the display isn’t locked. According to Frigidaire’s control guide, holding the Alarm Reset button until it beeps locks or unlocks the display. The same guide identifies CE as a system error.

If the code returns after resetting power and the wiring looks good, the main electronic control board or display control board becomes a likely suspect.
A couple of questions
When you say the freezer won’t turn off, do you mean the compressor runs continuously, or that the control panel won’t let you turn the freezer off?
Is the freezer maintaining a normal temperature around 0°F, or is it getting excessively cold?
Does CE appear immediately after plugging it back in?
Those answers will help narrow down whether we’re dealing with a control communication failure or an additional cooling problem before you spend money on parts.
The freezer has been unplugged for a day. I plugged in about 3 hours ago. I pushed the reset button until it beeped. The compressor has been running and the temp. dropped to about 16 degrees. The outside display reads 55 degrees. I am going to give it 24 hours to stabilize. If I try fast freeze, the light comes on and then goes out within 10 sec.
Question, does the display indicate freezer is in locked mode in some way?
Thanks for the update! The fact that your Frigidaire GLFU1467FW0 freezer is running and has cooled to approximately 16°F after just three hours is encouraging. That tells us the compressor and cooling system are working.
As for your question, the display reading 55°F does not indicate that the freezer is locked. A control lock normally affects the buttons, not the temperature reading.
I agree with giving the freezer a full 24 hours to stabilize before making any decisions about replacing parts.
There are two things I’d like to keep an eye on:
The temperature display: If the actual freezer temperature continues dropping toward 0°F but the outside display stays at 55°F, we may have a temperature-sensing or electronic control issue.
The Fast Freeze button: The light coming on and then going out after approximately 10 seconds isn’t something I’d automatically consider normal. It could indicate the control isn’t maintaining that setting.
I checked the Frigidaire control instructions, and there is a specific way to identify the lock status:
LO: Control is locked.
UL: Control is unlocked.
To toggle the lock: Press and hold the Alarm Reset button until you hear a beep. The display should briefly show LO or UL.
Extreme Freeze: When successfully activated, the display should show FF, and the feature normally remains active for up to 72 hours.

Since you’ve already held Reset until it beeped, you may have changed the lock setting rather than simply resetting the alarm.
One quick question: When you press the Fast Freeze button, does the display briefly show LO, FF, or just 55°F?
That will help us determine whether the controls are locked or whether we need to investigate the display/control system further.
Thank you for your help. When I push fast freeze FF shows on display for a second and then goes to 55 degrees. Also when I try to lock I hear a beep but display continues to read 55degrees. My thermometer bottoms at 16 degrees but I believe freezer is closer to zero. Compressor still running.
It has been over a day and same thing, freezer is very cold but running continuously and reads 55degrees.
On your Frigidaire freezer, model GLFU1467FW0, the fact that it’s getting very cold while the display continues to show 55°F makes me suspect a problem with the temperature sensor (thermistor), its wiring, or the electronic control.
The compressor running continuously is another important clue. If the control thinks the freezer is still at 55°F, it may keep calling for cooling even though the freezer is already near 0°F.
The Fast Freeze and Lock behavior doesn’t necessarily mean those buttons are defective. We need to determine why the control keeps displaying 55°F.
Here’s the next test I’d recommend. I found the Frigidaire diagnostic procedure for this freezer.
Use the temperature arrows to set the freezer to 0°F.
Press and hold both temperature arrows together until the display shows 88.
Press Alarm Reset to check the thermistor.
The results should be:
-- means the thermistor circuit tests normal.
0 means the thermistor circuit is open.
S means the thermistor circuit is shorted.
Frigidaire also confirms that a thermistor failure can cause the compressor to run continuously as a protective measure.
If we find a thermistor problem, we can check its resistance with a multimeter before replacing anything. The service information specifies approximately 10,000 ohms at 70°F.
One question: When you enter diagnostics and press Alarm Reset, does the display show --, 0, or S?
That result will help us narrow this down without guessing at another part.
Also, since your thermometer cannot read below 16°F, I’d recommend getting a freezer thermometer that reads below 0°F. We don’t want the freezer getting excessively cold while the compressor continues running.
