Freezer Burn

I have a whilpool side by side frost free frige 8yrs old. My food seems to get freezer burned…ice crystals build up/forms on food. Any thoughts? Temp in fridge and freezer are set on suggested setting and seem to be normal.

Measure the temperature in the freezer and set it higher if it’s bellow 0°F. Do not keep the door open longer than it is necessary. Check if the door seal is not broken.

If temp and door seals are good perhaps the freezer bags you are using are no good.

The moisture / ice crystals is coming from somewhere and that is why I suspect the food containers.

Also you may want to try and catch the unit just after a defrost cycle when your compressor and freezer fan come back on, just to make sure that the food is still well frozen. Could be the defrost thermostat is not shutting off the defrost element when it should.

Door gasket is good…temp is right at 0 deg…what should it be at???

Stick a dollar bill between the door gasket and frame and check if you can pull it out easily, if so, you have bad door gaskets.
