first the ice maker then the freezer then the refrigerator

The problem started with the ice maker. It stopped producing ice all of the sudden. Three days later we noticed the ice in the freezer was melted. Then immediately after that we noticed that the refrigerator is not as cold as it used to.

I thought I had the ice maker problem figured out until the other two problems came up. I say that because when I tried shorting “T” and “H” with a wire it actually went through a harvest cycle and ice cubes cam popping out. So I figure its the thermostat.

Then the freezer went out. That got me thinking that maybe there’s nothing wrong with the thermostat. Maybe the thermostat wasn’t sensing that the temperature was low enough to start a harvest cycle. So maybe the freezer was the problem to begin with.

I cleaned the backside and the underside of all the dust. Emptied the freezer and placed a cup of water in it. After about 20hrs I checked and saw that the water was starting to freeze and the refrigerator was getting cooler. So I thought maybe the cleaning did it. Three hours later I went to check again only to find out that water is completely liquid again, the refrigerator is not as cold again, and naturally there is nothing but water in the ice maker now.

Here’s my take on what’s going on. Please tell me if I’m wrong, close, or not even in the ball park. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
A) the ice maker thermostat is out
B) the thermistor in the refrigerator is out
C) the thermistor in the freezer is out
D) the compressor is out
E) a combination of any or all of the above
Please get back to me with your suggestions. I would also need help on how to get to the thermistors to check it. Thanks in advance for all the help.

I will never take ice for granted again.

if your freezer is not freezing and the bottom of refrig, is not real cold it may be the defrost timer , the refrig, has to cycle in order to freeze if it run all the time not shutting down to defrost ice want freeze , and may be thermostat on the freezer coils i had that problem and replaced defrost timer work great now went to appliancepartspro.com it was 16.00 dollars for the part
