I would like to either clean or replace the food filter(s) in this dishwasher. I suspect they have a lot of food particles in or on them, and I’ve read they should be maintained whenever there is a lingering (rotten) food smell in the DW after it has been run. Exactly how do I remove it/them?
Look at the Pump and Motor Parts section.
If you click on a part’s picture a new page will open often with a Q&A on how to remove it (parts 2, 4 and 6)
Thanks for the great info! I was able to remove everything and found a little debris on the mesh inside the filter plate, but probably not enough to cause the smell. I did note, however, that there was about 5-6 cups of standing “gray” water on top of the pump housing after removing parts 1-9. I siphoned that out and reinstalled everything, then ran an empty load with a cup of vinegar.
I also double checked the drain line installation (high drain loop with waste tee), and it exceeds the minimum dimensions by at least an inch in both cases. I don’t know if this makes any difference, but the DW is installed in an “island” cabinet, and the sink drain has a mechanical Studor vent which is also properly installed. This sink is rarely used, and only for food prep when it is, so nothing goes down the drain (except water) that could get siphoned back into the DW.
So, my next questions are: is this amount of residual water normal after the DW is finished draining, and if not, what are my next steps?
