The freezer door (bottom door on french door model) has a loose hinge on the left side. I took the door off of the hinge attachment so I could look at it. The right hinge is still tight and will tilt down, etc., but the left one seems to have the lower prong (some thingy) hanging loose. It doesn’t look like anything is broken but I can’t figure out how to get it positioned like it is supposed to be. Any help would be appreciated. I can take a pic if it will help.

Ron, A photo would be greatly appreciated, we’re having difficulty visioning your issue.
Thanks
I finally got some help figuring it out. I’m attaching the picture in case it might help someone else. The trick was that the bottom arm had a little part that you have to open up and connect to the top one with pressure on the spring. This holds it until you get the whole thing into place, at which time the connector is released to hold it in place.

Ron,
Great job. Glad you figured it out and you’re up and running.
Thanks for the photo and post information and update.
I am having a similar issue…did you have to push on the top lever with spring? I didn’t even notice the spring. Did you have trouble keeping the bottom metal piece in place?

Yes. It required some pressure to get it on. A friend of mine got it on and he had to use a screwdriver or something to pop it on. It might help to look at the one that is still working (if it is) to see how it goes.
I am having the same problem, had a repair person here and told us we need a new hinge. Now they are saying the part is unavailable (it is the bottom freezer hinge on the right) I can’t afford a new fridge. Does anyone know where I could possibly find this part? I don’t know what the part number is! Thank you

Daydreamer, It’s pretty tough researching parts without a complete model or part number. Once you have researched the parts screen and have a part number, you may need to review Obsolete or antique Appliance Parts Dealers on the internet. You may get lucky and find what you need there.
Get us a complete model number and we will research the part you may need and have a better recommendation. Thanks
Thank you! the model # is LFX25960ST it’s an LG. I don’t have a part #but it’s the bottom freezer door hinge on the right.
Daydreamer, The part you’re going to need is
If it were available, it would be a complete assembly ( hinges and support arms, etc.) When you start to research use the ACJ number for reference, that’s the manufacturers part number, and will cross reference to various part numbers from most parts distributors and their web sites.
Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it. I have Kenmore Elite refrigerator with bottom freezer. Sure enough, it’s manufactured by LG. I too had a failed left hinge on the freezer compartment. I ordered a replacement from Sears Parts Direct - $41 (tax and shipping included). When I received the part in the mail, I was initially stumped as to how to install.
Being a “visual” guy - here’s what I had to do.
Step #1, Make sure that the level is closed by pushing down on the top part (red arrow) and then sliding the locking mechanism in the direction of Yellow Arrow. Finally, when we insert this hinge into the receiving area, it’s wont’ go all the way in. It goes about 75% of the way in - while resting on the bottom notch (blue arrow) of the hinge.
Step #2 - Attach the hinge to the freezer door. After inserting the hinge into the receiving area and having it rest on the notch (blue arrow), then release the locking mechanism by - put a little downward force (I used a hammer and just pushed on it from the top) on the top part (red arrow). Then, while the force is applied, release the locking mechanism - (yellow arrow). Once to you that, the hinge will insert itself the rest of the way into the area.

Thank you so much. I didn’t realize there was a 2nd page to this forum that included your “visual guide” until after about 3 hours of attempting to fix it with just the information I had on the first page.
The mistake I was making was taking the bottom lever with the latch, opening the latch and just pushing it straight up into the top part of the latch. It actually took quite a bit of force for me push the top part down where the latch could hook on to it. I also had to take off the plastic flap covering the locking mechanism, the one held by two screws, in order for me to be able to take the latch off once it was inserted.
Thanks again, I had never heard of this website until I came across this post, will keep in mind for future reference. The exact fridge I was working on was an LG LRFD21855ST.

SoCalKingg, Great !!! We’re glad you took the time and effort to get all the information. There is a lot of information on this forum, the response team is a pretty good group of people, as are the people who post questions. This is a good place to start when repairing an appliance. Thanks Again,
