F5E1 - But which "control"?

We’re getting F5E1 about 20 minutes after starting the self clean cycle. The door locks as expected, and unlocks when the failure occurs, so it seems like that isn’t the cause.

According to the steps in the code lookup page on this site, I may need to replace the control. What is the “control”?

Is it this $458.86 part:

Microcomputer - Oven control
Item Number: AP3135399
Manufacturer’s Number: 4456033 made by WHIRLPOOL

Because this is getting into “is it worth it?” territory.

Thanks!

David

Hi David,

This error code means that the control board does not sense that the door latch is closed.

The control board is the last thing you have to think about.

Measure the resistance of the door latch solenoid. Normally it should be about 175 Ohms.

Check both door latch switches for continuity. One of them is Normally Open while the other switch is Normally Closed.

Check the wires between the door latch and the control board.

Post the results.
