Evaporator fan

I wanted to make sure the evaporator is not working properly and not the mother board before I order a new fan.

The coil, defrost and the drain are all working fine.
There is voltage (AC 115 volts) across the 2 connectors (black and yellow wire) and the resistance is about 45 ohms. But the fan runs sometimes and stop sometimes. When it stopped, I could sometimes make it go by spinning it with my hand.

Please help.

Thanks,

Nick

Pull the motor out and plug in in the wall outlet, if it still will not reliably start, or it has bad bearings, order a new here. If you dislike the high price, order a sm999 motor, more reliable, much cheaper, but you must have mechanical skills to put it in and it consumes more power.

That is a good idea I’ll try it tonight.

What I don’t understand is what causes the motor to stop and run sometimes (assuming the current supply was fine). Is the bearing gone? Will I hear any noise? When I got it to run, it would run very quietly.

Do you carry the SM999 motor? Will I need to fabricate brackets, etc. I am quite mechanically capable but I don’t want to spend days before I can get the frige going either. My wife has been on my back and she was ready to go out and buy a new refrigerator 2 days ago. Could you please let me know what do I need to do to install the SM999 motor?

Thank you very much,

Nick

This site has the motor, AP4503254 You will need to take the motor apart and reverse it to make it run the same way as the old one, rather easy to install, but you will need to splice in the wires. It comes with instructions and you will need to carefully bust off the extra spindle length with two pliers, $20 instead of $70

I have just called your parts dept and ordered a different motor (AP2639776) for $10 more than AP 2639776.

According the salesperson it comes with the bracket and I will not have to do any modification.

Is that true?

I am sorry, I just looked at the order and it is not the bracket but a blade I am buying with the motor. The motor is the same as the one you had quoted.

According to the salesperson, I won’t have to do any modification to install. I hope he is right.

Thanks,

Nick

Yes, he is right, easy to install.

Thanks very much. You are great!

Can’t wait to get the new motor.
