Estate Washing Machine

HELP! I have an Estate Washing machine, about 2 years old. My son was trying to wash his school clothes, it filled with water and hummed. I opened the lid and the humming stopped. I moved the dial to the different cycles and nothing happened (I closed the lid first). Its full of water and clothes but I can move the agitator by hand. Any suggestions?

Move the dial to the drain section, and if it drains check out the coupling.

I did that, it did not drain :frowning:

Okay, since a male child was involved there is always the chance that he overloaded the machine and that a sock or some other article of clothing has lodged in the pump. This is standard behavior with male children.

Take off the cabinet and check out the pump, hopefully that is all it is.

I took it apart and there is nothing in the pump :frowning: I looked down in it and could see the black gear perfectly with no sock! I looked in the drain tubes too while I was there and nothing blocking them. I popped the motor off while I had it apart and the coupler (I think thats what it is called) Seems intact. I am lost and I sure am hoping it is NOT the motor!

I don’t think it is the motor, but the transmission.

See if the motor will turn when it is off the machine. By pass the lid switch and put it in spin, but be very careful.
