The oven portion on my Whirlpool stove is not working and has a code of PF, which I am assuming means power failure. The range works fine. I paid a technician 60.00 to diagnose the electronic control piece. I ordered it from APP and installed, however that did not fix the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it maybe the control panel? I hate to just throw expensive parts at it…Does anyone have the wiring diagram?
According to the manufacturer Service pointer, the correction is to install the ferrite bead kit to reduce line interference (electrical noise) from the direct spark ignition module.
You also may want to make sure there is nothing wrong with the wall outlet and the circuit breaker for the range. Would not heart to install a power surge protector for the range (even better for a whole house).

Hi, Gene & Company - the instructions aren’t very clear.
I hope you can clarify them for me/ everyone.
Is the ferrite bead intended to cover BOTH the wire harness (leaving the spark module from one side of the board) AND the 6 spark wires (leaving the spark module from the other side, on their way to ignitors).
Or is it just intended to cover the wire harness without covering the 6 spark wires?

This instructions made by Whirlpool. Sometimes their instructions are not very clear or even mistaken but not this one.
It is specifically written in the installation instructions (steps 5 & 6): “main wire harness” and “going to the spark module”. On the other side it says nothing about any wires “leaving the spark module”.

You’ve done enough, so don’t feel compelled to answer this follow-up question, but do you think it would be a bad idea to put an extra ferrite bead over the 6 ‘spark wires’ that extend from the other side of the ‘spark module’ to the igniters?
As I understand it, electrical noise/ interference from the spark module is causing problems in the very nearby (and expensive to replace) ‘oven control board’.
If covering the ‘wire harness’ extending from one side of the spark module with a ferrite bead helps to shield the delicate oven control board, why wouldn’t another ferrite bead over the 6 spark wires also be needed to fully shield the control board?
Is it because the 6 spark wires already have a ferrite coating running along their length?
Or is it because a ferrite bead over the spark wires would inhibit them to the point where they couldn’t spark the igniters?

I believe Whirlpool engineers did deep investigation regarding this problem before they offered this solution. I do not think that more ferrite bead should be used.
If your range is made after March of 2004, then that possible electrical noise more likely was already fixed.

I am having the same issue, Whirlpool Oven GW395LEPS03 (came with our new house in 2007) control panel displays “PF”. The top stoves work, the clock and oven light work, but none of the buttons on the control panel works. Turing on/off the circuit breaker didn’t help.
I read this post but unfortunately no one is saying if the ferrite bead kit actually fixed his/her problem. I know this is an old post, but I hope someone will reply. Thanks.
