Element problem?

I’ve just replaced the heating element because the old one was bent/warped up and prevented the lower spray bar from rotating.
After a week or so, I noticed a smell (burning type odor) while washing dishes this morning. I opened it up mid-cycle and found a black and white crust on one spot on the element.
We are using Finish Powerball All in one detergent.
Is this an indication of the element going bad or detergent burning on the element?

I cannot say without being there.

You could try gently scraping/washing off the spot.
Then check to see if the element coating is bubbled etc.
If it is then it is a bad element, has a hot spot.

Checked it again this morning, and the element looks fine. Not sure what it was, but it had me concerned at the time.
