Electric glass top range question

Alright so I just suffered from a flood and I need a replacement for my old gas stove. I really want to install a electric glass top specifically this one

The only thing i’m not sure about is how much electricity is needed to run this range. We have a decently old power box and im not sure if we have to upgrade in order to install this glasstop.

Could someone please explain how those work? Im very new to electric and glass top ranges.

Below is the install sheet for this unit.

It calls for a 40 amp double breaker. So you need 2 open slots in your electrical panel. Also they have to be one on top of the other.

You will need 8 gauge copper wire to hook it up.
I would go with a 4 wire hook up.
But I would check your local electrical code.

Basically it is just elements under the glass.

I am not sure why you want to convert to electrical.
Most people prefer a gas cooktop with an electrical oven.
Also gas is usually less expensive but that depends on where you are and if it is natural gas or propane.
