Elect Burner won't heatup

Just replaced an 8" elect. burner that won’t heat up, part GEH WB30K10003. My helper had purchased a wrong unit ( had longer, tighter coil) so I went on Apppliance Parts Pro website found the stove model and ordered the correct unit. The funny thing is that the wrong part mildly warms up, but the correct part does not work at all. Can any one help with this?

SRLL,

A model number would be a great help,

It allows us to be more accurate in assisting you.

But,

Did you circuit test or voltage test the infinite switch ?

How about the wire(s) from the switch to the element ?
(could be loose, kinked, or frayed)

Thanks,

Sorry about that. The stove is a Hot point model RB526 C2WW.

SRLL,

Here is the part number for the 8"/2100 watt infinite switch, should you need it

AP2024074

And this is the element you should have orderred,

AP2027742

You want to insure you’ve got the correct part numbers.

Your first step should be,

*** Be Careful, these are live voltage tests, don’t hurt yourself. ***

Remove the burner element from the receptacle,
with a multi meter, check for 240 VAC at the receptacle (where the element plugs in)when you turn on the element switch.

Anything other than 240 VAC, would indicate a bad switch, broken wire, or voltage problem.

At the infinite switch,

Check from L1 to L2 on the switch, you should have 240 VAC.

When you turn the switch on,

You should read 240 VAC, from H1 to H2 ,coming from the switch to the element receptacle.

Anything other than that, would indicate a wiring problem or voltage problem.

Good Luck,
