E1 and F2 error

This double oven was given to us. When I wired it up the pannel shows E1 and F2 errors. What do i do now? Would like to fix it myself. Thank you NSS.

The error code F2 E1 means the keypad is unplugged. If it has the trim pieces down the sides remove them and there should be a screw on either side of the control panel. cafefully remove that and check the connections. Post your results.

Thank you for the reply, i took out the control pannel and removed the band that connects the keypad to the board and then reinserted it. I still get the error. Is there another connection i am missing, do I need to clean the contact points and how if yes? NSS

I would clean them. The easiest way is to use a pencil eraser on the male connectors, being carefull not to bend them.

Nat, I cleaned the contacts with no change. Still shows e1 f2 and no response from the key pad at all. NSS.

My guess would be the control board then isn’t getting the signals from the keypad. Microcomputer part # 8302967 of AP3767567, depending on the color of the keypad as to which part number you may need. It may require both to get it fixed.
Sometimes hard to diagnose without being there.

I am also getting this error message on my double oven. Funny thing is I had the repairman come put a new control board in today and now the keypad won’t work. Originally he said the board was what needed to be replaced, but at least the oven was working! Now I got nothing!! The original problem was the upper oven kept heating to broil and not turning off, which is why we thought there was the problem with the control board. Could it be that the keypad was the thing that was wrong and not the board at all??? I’m going from this costing me just over 200 to repair to now the tune of 450 to repair both. Not sure what route to go now - try the keypad after the repair guy orders it??? Help!

alycat,
I would call them back and tell them it’s not working. It could be that one of connections isn’t getting a good contact.

Oh yeah - you are there! He came last week and from what I told him he said it must be the board. He saw that the keypad would not work when he installed the new one so I said why don’t we try putting the old one back in so I will at least be able to use the lower oven without worrying about the upper one coming on and staying on. So he reinstalled the first board and that is when we discovered the error message coming up with the old board as well. I think hubby is now going to take a look at it tonight. I need the dumb thing, but how can it go from working like it was to not working at all. ARGH!!! The guy said that the keypad was probably wearing out anyway as well as the board. I’m not to confident with him right now. They are waiting on me giving them the word as to ordering the keypad.

Well I think he should have check for an error code before installing the new board.

If you want to replace the keypad your self the part number is AP3131745 for the white one, on this site.

Keep us posted

Hi Nat - there was no error code to begin with, just the oven acting psycho by going into broil mode when I only had it at 350, and then not shutting off. I even had issues when we shut off the breaker and turned it back on - the upper oven kept coming on. Weird! So that is why he said it had to be the board. So then, after he put new board in and got the error message about the touchpad, then got the same message when he put the old board back on, that was when I starting doubting what was going on. So, when hubby got home he decided to check it out. Took him all of 2 seconds to make a comment as he pulled off the panel - low and behold the ribbon wire that makes the connection from the touch pad to the board was bent and almost cracked through. He said there is the problem right there. Think as repairman pulled the panel off - which he had to yank on a couple times - he actually damaged the ribbon wire because it hit the top of the opening. It really all made sense, but of course we cannot acuse the man of this. We have now talked with the company installing since it really was not our fault that the touchpad got damaged and feel we should not have to pay for the second part. Well - first they said they would sell the part at their cost, but we are trying to have them settle on at least splitting the cost of the part down the middle. Seems only fair. Hubby told the guy that repairman will show him the part once removed and he can make the final call about what he thinks is fair. Bottom line is we don’t have a choice - we need both parts. UGH! I hate spending money for stuff like that.

Thanks for your input!

You’re welcome, hopefully you can get it all staightened out!!

 E1 is not my fault code - ONLY F2. Any idea if the problem is sensor, harness or relay board?
