I just replaced the motor, it had a broken shaft. Now it works but wont stay in drain or wash cycle long enough. Only about 15 seconds then shuts off.
Any ideas?
What exactly did you replace?
The pump and motor assembly, just the motor or the motor and the impeller & seal kit?
Gene.
I just replaced the motor. When it works right im going to replace all the seals.
Having problems with my Kenmore dishwasher. It seems to only want to run for 15 seconds or so on any cycle I choose. It will fill and heat but will not rinse or drain properly. It seems the new motor overheats and shuts down. I have replaced every part of the pump assembly. Please help before my hands become too wrinkled from washing manually.
Mine is doing the exact same thing. If I find out anything ill post it for you
Brian
I personally haven’t had the same situation, but I do know that there is a thermal cut out on all motors which will disable the motor if the copper windings get too hot. It is used to prevent a fire from occurring. When the copper windings cool down, the motor is operable again. This possibility may not be likely for these two cases since you said you just bought the motor. However if it is an older motor/service motor, it may be the case. But still it’s rare. If it seems the only option is this, I’d call the manufacturer’s service department to have it checked out.
Uggg checked all the wires nothing fried. I wonder what keeps tripping the damm motor thermal cut
Check the circuit board and the accessory parts like the float mechanism.
they all look good what should i check now?
Motors overheat if voltage applied is low due to a burnt wire. Check the voltage to the motor per. the schematic and the current draw, post results.
