I have a Midea dryer, model MLE52S7AGS, and the thermal fuse keeps tripping. Please make sure to click on General above and select the correct appliance type first.
The thermal fuse in this unit happens to have a reset button, so I am able to pull the unit out, open the back, and press in the fuse’s button to reset it each time, and the machine immediately is able to turn back on and operate after doing so, but it is more work than it sounds like for me to do this every time.
So far I have:
-thoroughly cleaned dust and link out of the unit
-tested all sensors/fuses for normal function/readings
-cleaned out the lint tray
-removed and inspected the heater coils
-blew dust out of the heater unit
-tested the heater coils for continuity and good ohms, which read normal (about 19 ohms)
When this issue first started, I came across a video of someone thoroughly brushing off the lint tray with soap and water, because they said wax gets built up on it and will not allow adequate air through, which you can verify by seeing if the try will hold water…which it did. Cleaning the lint tray fixed the issue for about a month, so I thought the issue was solved, but then it just started tripping the thermal fuse again.
I was thinking that I would just order a new heater unit and all new sensors fuses and just swap out everything at once since I don’t know what else could be the issue, but I really hate replacing parts that are perfectly good, so I wanted to see if anyone could give any input on this and possibly point me in the right direction.
Thanks!!
