Dryer will spin if started by hand

I have a Hotpoint Dryer (model # nbxr333eg5ww) and if I
press the start button it will not spin but if I spin it by hand
it will spin the set cycle. What could be the problem?:confused:

If the drum turns fairly easily by hand then odds are that your motor is on it’s last legs.

You may want to try turning drums on a couple othetr units just to get a feel for it.
If the drum is hard to turn the at the top of the list would be the rear support bearing or the front glides.
