Dryer Venting Question

Not sure if this is the correct section to post this.

I took my dryer out to clean out the inside and realized that the builder used a male to male vent pipe through the wall from the service porch to the garage. This pass through pipe has a flange so I can’t just pull it out. The pipe coming out of my dryer is a male. They had a flexible vent hose attached between the two which seemed to work ok put tends to collect lint do to its shape. I replace the flexible pipe with a few solid 90° sheet metal pieces. I cut a custom female piece that I put onto the male coming out of the wall from the garage and pushed it up against the flange. I then used 2ea 90’s, males pointing downstream with the first 90° coming from the wall with the male pushed in the female to touch the male pipe going through the wall. The question I have is should I add some Rectoseal high temp silicone sealant to the inside of the custom female piece where the 2 male pipes touch so not to have any lint build up

Hope my description makes sense.

Hi,

JMO!

If you want or need to take the venting apart in the future…siliconing it probably not a good idea.

Yeah, I will probably just leave the 2 male pipes butted up against each other in the 4" female pipe and tape the end of the female pipe that’s accessible.

Thanks for your time!

Hope we helped
