Dryer stopped working mid way through drying clothes

Have a whirlpool dryer that stopped working 1/2 way through a cycle. it has power and no changes were made to the system. looking for either a part to fix it or some troubleshooting tips

Do you have the model #? Does the motor continue to run and you just aren’t getting heat, or is it not starting?

Model Number is WGD4850HW0 and it started, then 1/2 way through stopped and will not start. when I open the door the light goes on so there is electricity going to it

That could be the timer, the start switch, a popped thermal fuse, or even the motor itself.

Are you hearing a buzzing or humming noise if you set the timer and hold the start button?

Is it not running on all cycles or just certain ones?

Not running at all and when I click and hold the start switch I don’t hear anything..

You’ll need to make voltage and continuity checks to verify what has failed. I’d start by checking the continuity of the start switch and the motor circuit to narrow things down a bit. Here’s the wiring diagram for that one if need it.
