IDryer motor bearings are shot, bought a new motor at AppliancePartsPros.com, cannot remove the old motor, completely stymied!
You do not know how to access the motor or how to remove the motor itself?
Gene.
I have a similar question. My Kenmore electric dryer instructs me to hold the plastic circular fan and turn the motor shaft clockwise. I cannot get the fan off the shaft, is there a special way to accomplish this? Respectfully requested
Put vice grips on the end of the fan by the motor and a pipe wrench on the pulley side and just slam the pipe wrench clockwise; burning/overheating bearings will freeze the wheel to the motor shaft. I find this works without busting the blower.Use a long heavy screwdriver to pry the c clamps off the motor, saves on the knuckles.
Thank you!!
Hey Padme..remove the snap ring from the motor shaft that holds the blower in place. Also, remove any covers, shields etc, that is in the way.Afer that, remove the saddle clamps that hold the motor in place. Refer to the pictures breakdown for your model. good luck..wrench:)
Uh, sorry, I thought you had a Whirlpool dryer, no problem getting fan off, just use a small screwdriver to get c clip off.
