The dryer knob on my Maytag Ensignia dryer is not sticking in the “up” position the way it used to. I have to jiggle it around for it to “catch” and then it will turn on and dry. It seems to be tied with the temp control setting on this dryer because I have to make sure that when it sticks in the up position that the heat light is on or else it will spin without drying. This one knob controls everything, and I would like to know if I have to replace just the knob or the entire assembly behind the knob too. Plus, is this hard to replace?
Thanks for any help you could render!

LA,
You’ll need to replace the switch, based on your post description,
It’s not that hard a repair.
Unplug the power cord or remove power to the dryer.
Remove the knob from the switch(pull it off).
Remove the three screws from across the top of the front portion of the control panel.
Grasp the control panel at the top, and pull towards you, the panel should hinge out at the top and release from the console.
With a flat blade screwdriver, insert between the long plastic holdown tab and the inside of the console and pry out on the tab until it clears the tab on the console and turn the switch assembly counterclockwise until it releases from the console( 90 dgrs).
Install the new switch and switch wires from old switch to the new switch.
Reverse the procedure and check the dryer for operation.
Thanks and Good Luck,
