Dryer is running without being turned on

Main Symptom: Dryer is running without being turned on.
What happens & when: Our power went out due to a big storm and ever since the dryer isn’t working properly. That was 2 days ago. We noticed it not working yesterday. It runs without being turned on when plugged in. The only way to turn it off is to open the door or unplug it. I don’t think it’s heating at all though.

Error Code (if any):
Parts or tests already tried: we tried pressing the power button and start/stop button to no avail. When we plug it in, it automatically starts turning but there are not lights indicating that it’s been turned on. When we open the door it stops running. We shut it again and it starts turning automatically.

That means the motor relay on the main board EBR76542910 has fused closed. Unfortunately, that board has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available for purchase. The manufacturer does not list a compatible substitute or replacement part.

Thank you for your reply. So that means a new dryer is the only option?

There are companies out there that rebuild control boards such as Corecentrics, but that may or may not get the issue fixed for you. Other than that yeah, a new dryer is the next option.

There is a part number on the relay and in the past I have ordered and changed them. Find a local electronics tech who could handle the soldering for you.
