Dryer Fuse

 I have whirepool Dryer Moded # LER7646EQ2. My dryer went dead. I checked the power. No Question It is getting the Power. I opened the back. I chcked the Heating Element. It is cracked and prt of the heating element was touching the Dryer body. So I can tell it was grounded and some fuse blew up.

I see thermostat but is there any Fuse in this Dryer that cut off the power to the Dryer. If the thermal cutoff goes bad the dryer will still run without heating element on.

I would appreciate any help. Where is the fuse in the dryer that shutoff everything.

Thank you.

Yes, it is Item 7 in Section 3 (on the blower).

Unplug the unit and check the fuse with a meter should be 0 ohms.

Jiggery Pokery method is.
Unplug the unit.
Remove both wires from the fuse, short them together and tape them up so they will not short to the frame.
Plug the unit in and give it a try.

If blown, replace the fuse ASAP as it is a critical safety device re: prevents lint fires which can turn into house fires.

Also clean/check your vent system and the blower as these are the most common causes of it blowing.

If doig the jiggery pokery check do not let it run very long as it will blow the thermal cut -off (fuse) for the heater.

I followed your advice you are 100% right. I did the Jiggery Pokery test for few moment. Dryer is running but the heating eliment is not working(New Heating element). Beside item number 7 I think I need “High limit Cutoff” also.

My question is for test porpose to see if High limit cutoff is the issue can I do Jiggery Pokery test with High Limit Cutoff?

Thank you.

You could but you have to be careful that the wires do not touch the heating element/case as it will melt the insulation and cause a short.
