Dryer does not stop

Dryer starts and heats, timer will not move. Dryer remains on until someone turns it off. Replaced timer, still will not shut off.

Your dryer has an automatic mode and a timed mode. Does this happen in both modes, just the automatic mode or just the timed mode?

Thanks

Just the automatic mode

Just the automatic mode. The timed mode appears to work properly.

Ok, good.

This should mean that your timer is ok. The likely reason your timer will not advance in auto mode is that the timer continues to believe that clothes are wet. You need to open up the front of the dryer and check the connections on the moisture sensor strip that is just inside the front when you open the door. One wire goes to ground, one wire goes to the timer. You also need to take the cover off of the blower and completely clean out the vent system. If all of the moist air cannot escape then the dryer may believe the clothes are still wet and that is why it continues to run in auto mode.

Good luck, and let us know if this fixes it.

Where is the moister sensor strip? Is it on the left edge, or inside? How big and what color? I was advised to replace the Cycling Thermostat?

Actually, I am not sure what color it is, I think grey. You will see it when you remove the front air duct assembly, it is a long thin strip with wires connected at each end.
