This morning while emptying the dishwasher the door made a loud noise - and suddenly the tension that pulled the door back up was gone and it weighed a ton. I assume a spring broke. But how do I get in there - and where - to find out what happened?

The door springs are Item 1 in Section 4, they are behind the kick plate.
Depending what has snapped you may have to pull the dishwasher forward a foot or so.
