I’m writing in regards to a no lighting gas oven on a Montgomery Ward gas stove I have. It’s model is KTM 2445 - 87, possibly produced mid-late 80’s. The glow bar is wired in series with the gas valve, and when the thermostat is set to on, glow bar does glow(brightly). I was told even if the glow bar is on, the current drawn through the gas valve controls whether the gas valve is energized to light. I was also told this current should be 3.2 amps. I tested mine, and I measured 2.88 amps. Just wanted and opinion if I was going in the right direction replacing the glow bar igniter. Thank you very much! - Don

Hi,

From what you posted I would replace the igniter.
The gas valve should have stamped on it the correct amps it takes for the valve to open, but what you posted sounds accurate.
