DLEX8100v motor cycling when running

Brand: LG
Model Number: DLEX8100V
Main Symptom: motor cycling on & off every few seconds could be overheating
What happens & when: set cycle and start

Error Code (if any): 1888, U08, D03, L02

Parts or tests already tried: Tried hard reset, unpluging waiting a 1 minute while pressing on button for 10 seconds and then pressing the start button for 10 seconds.

Trying to determine whether it needs logic board or motor. It sounds like it could be a start up motor cap but this unit does not use this technology after doing research on the problem.

Hi rd121212,

Based on the symptoms you described, it sounds like the motor may need to be replaced. The motor repeatedly cycling on and off is often a sign that it’s overheating. This can happen when the motor is beginning to fail or is drawing too much current.

If you have a multimeter, you can also check the motor windings and verify that it’s receiving the proper voltage, but from your description, the motor is the most likely culprit.

Thank you for your responses and especially the service manual. Oddly enough, I decided to just use the dryer until another symptom appeared or motor burn up. This dryer is working as normal now, drying to loads. I haven’t done anytime to it since this post earlier today.

If this problem comes back, I will be able to measure the windings with this service manual. Thank you for your response and help. I will let you know if this redevelops and the fix.

SOLUTION: after disassembling found one of six tube rollers was dragging probably not allowing the motor to come up to speed. The bad one was over the blower assembly. Replace the front 3-rollers. Dryer runs fine now. Thanks for the help.
