Dissasembly issue

Hello
I have a GE gas stove top that has a bad harness switch (GEH WB18T10339 ) which I ordered from Appliance Parts Pros. My question is how do I remove the plastic cover to get to the harness. I pulled the contol knobs off and see no screws anywhere. Do I need to remove the burners and stainless burner pan in order to get the plastic piece off or is there some trick?

Thanks

Eustace

Eustace,

The model number you posted does not come up. Verify and repost it please.

JGP933SEC2SS. Sorry I cut it short.

You have to remove the whole top panel in order to replace this part.

Remove the two screws secured each burner base and remove all burner bases. Pull the top panel up and put it aside.

Thanks Gene. I will tackle it in the morning.

I think they sent the wrong part. After looking at the supplied switch I see my switch is a 0 deg switch and the one they sent is a 20 deg switch.
Do I need to send this one back? In the Illustrated parts manual they didn’t list the different switches.

Thanks

Tom

Tom,

Does it have the part number on it?

The part number number WB18T10339 you posted is the correct part number.

Hi Gene

Here is a scan of the directions that were sent with the switch. When I took it out of the package, all the holes were at 22 deg instead of 0 deg like the ones on the old switch. The old switch has red lettering. I used a multimeter set on ohms and the way the switch is set up, it doesn’t allow voltage to go to the ignitor at the same rotational direction as the old switch.
The old switch was installed at a direct 90 deg from the flat on the gas valve. The new switch is off around 22 deg. I hope I am making sense of this.

Eustace,

The original part number for this harness switch was WB18T10219. It was 0° and installed at direct 90°.

GE redesigned this part and changed the part number to WB18T10339. It is shown on the instructions you posted (on top of it).

On the picture in the right upper corner it is shown how the new switch should be installed on the gas burner valve. There are tabs on the other side of the switches. Make sure to push each switch down to lock it in place in order to prevent the switch from moving around the shaft.
