Display blinking odd characters

Hi Guys,

The fridge is displaying only blinking partial characters on the LED panel for temperature. The fridge and freezer are staying cold, but I can not control the temperature (at least I can not tell if I am). This display would normaly show both the current temperature of the fridge and freezer and also the desired temperature when setting.

I have replaced the display board (AP4139222 on the tech diagram or part #SAM DA41-00264D on your packing slip) but the problem still exists.

Part Details - SAMSUNG Pba P, part number: AP4139222

Any tips would be appreciated!

Dwayne

Hello. Those are an error code. Lets use the number system for the code. The top bar on the number 8 is #1, and the right side top is #2, the bottom right is #3, the bottom bar is #4, The bottom left is #5, the top left is #6, and the middle bar is # 7. Let me know by the number system what code you have, and if it is in the refrigerator or freezer side of the display. Hope this helps.

Jeff,

Is is #5 on Freezer side, and #8 on the fridge side.

Thanks,
Dwayne

Hello. The codes you provided is for the condenser fan motor not running. You will need to check and see if the fan motor is running in the back of the refrigerator. If not, test and see if voltage is coming to it. If there is power there, replace the fan motor. If there is no power there, you may need to replace the main board. Hope this helps.

Jeff,

I took the back off and saw that the fan appeared to be running just fine whenever the fridge was on.

Do you still suspect the main board?

Thanks,

Dwayne

Try unplugging the unit for about 15 to 30 minutes and see if it resets. If not, you may have a control board problem with the unit. Hope this helps.

sorry for the multiple replies. Browser was hanging up when trying to reply…

Thanks for the help. The unit was acting this way when I picked it up. It was unplugged for about an hour while we moved it, and still acting this way when plugged in.

It is keeping cold tempuratures, but I do not think I can set the temps on it now.

Great job with the picture. Helped out alot!! The code numbers you gave me were wrong. The code is 5 on the freezer left, and 1 on the refrigerator right. This is for a bad ice maker sensor. You will need to replace the ice maker in the unit to clear the codes. Once replaced, you will need to reset the control board by unplugging the unit for about 15 minutes. Hope this helps.

Jeff you are the man. Good catch! I’m an idiot…

When I bought the firdge (used), I was told the icemanker didn’t work and it had been removed comepletely. They gave me the parts but in cardboard nox for the icemaker. Since I was using this fridge for a homebrew kegerator, I didn’t care. I just wanted the top fridge with the flat bottom and no compressor in the way!

I had just thrown out the icemaker parts last night and for some reason checked my email at 6:00am. Out of character for me to be up that early. Luckily the trashmen had not come by yet. I was able to dig the parts out of the trash, plugged in just the harness… and tada! Everyhting is working!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR DIAGNOSIS AND STICKING WITH ME!!! Your site and conceot is pretty amazing. I will recomend to everyone.
