door will not latch when pushed in. does the micro switch have anything to do with the latch? thank so much for your help

The switch just tells the unit that the door is closed.
The problem is most likely mechanical, either the latch plate or the latch itself.
thank you. looking at the latch, i can see two pieces of white plastic. i can’t see what pushes the spring loaded one up to catch the inside latch. thank you Dave (herman)
maytag dw door latch would not allow dw to close but if i held it shut i would get some lights. i replaced door latch door closed but no lights, nothing just wouldn’t start. power ok. i called they said order the control panel i’m not quite sure what to do. also how does that control panel come out, i see tabs on the left but i’m not sure , cause they are hard to push. thank you much for your help dave
