I put everything back together and tried to drain it again. The motor starts for just an instant but won’t continue to run, as if the run winding is not connected after the start winding drops out. Is there a test for that?
I would still like to know how to drop the entire pump/motor unit without ruining seals. does the “locking” ring hold it in position and if I pull the spray arm it will all drop out the bottom?
Gene: Thanks for the reply. I can’t really tell which parts come off to get to the impeller.
As noted in my second post, the motor starts but doesn’t run. The water was drained out at that point after I lowered the drain hose below the pump. Will the pump not run if the water is drained? As in start for an instant but not run with no water? I didn’t try putting some water back in.
To remove the top cover do I take out all of the #5 screws around the perimiter of part #4 to look inside to see if something got sucked into the pump? I removed 32, 34, 1 and 33. As I recall maybe 36 just lifts up.
I will look tomorrow when I am back at the house.
have a great day!
